Overview

The MSc Program "Renewable Energy in Central and Eastern Europe" is the first cross-border postgraduate program in Austria dealing with the future issues of alternative energy production. It is conducted by Vienna University of Technology in cooperation with Energiepark Bruck/Leitha. Contributions will also be made by West Hungarian University of Mosonmagyaróvár and by Energy Centre Bratislava.

Contents of the MSc Program

During the first academic year basic knowledge is taught in order to achieve a uniform level of knowledge on renewable energy among the students. A systematic integration of theory, practice and case studies ensures that the knowledge acquired by the participants can be directly put into practice in their respective companies:

  • Introduction on Renewable Energy
  • Biomass, Biogas, and Biofuels
  • Solar Energy – Solar Heating and Phototvoltaics
  • Geothermal Energy, Wind Power, and Small Hydro Power
  • Efficient Energy Use and Thermal Building Optimisation
  • Economic Basics
  • General Legal and Economical Frameworks
  • Management and Soft Skills
  • Perspectives on the Use of Renewable Energy
  • Master Thesis

Target Group

Individuals within companies, organisations, and authorities who are engaged in planning, operating or evaluation of renewable energy or who are involved in financing, promotion, legal licensing, operation of facilities for the use of renewable energy or environmental issues.

Admission Requirements

Admission requirements are: a Baccalaureate´s degree, Magister´s degree, or a diploma or equivalent in a relevant area of specialty (predominantly final degrees related to engineering, technology, natural science, economics or law) and a minimum of 2 years of professional experience. Persons holding an equivalent educational and professional qualification may also be admitted.
