What is Engineering Management?

In order to succeed and proceed to higher management positions, the combination of technical and economic knowledge is gaining importance. Experience with legal issues is additionally sought after asset. This proofs that there is an increasing demand for employees with special knowledge in engineering, business management, marketing, and jurisprudence.

In future technicians, lawyers and managers will be specialists not only in their field of expertise but also in the respective complementary fields such as marketing, business management, law and engineering. In areas where economists, lawyers, and engineers work together on the same level, either at the top of small and medium-sized companies or in units of big companies, a well-qualified engineering manager provides expertise and solutions to bridge existing interfacial gaps. This MSc Program offers graduates from engineering schools the chance to extend and deepen their knowledge of economic and legal issues as well as provides education in technical sciences for business managers and legal experts.

Engineering Mangement - Baku Track

The MSc program Engineering Management has been successfully running at TU Wien since 1995. It has been developed by Em.O.Univ.Prof. Dr. Dr.h.c.mult. Peter Kopacek who also acts as Academic Director.

As from November 2019 the part-time MSc program that is completely taught in English will also be offered in Baku (Azerbaijan). For this purpose, a cooperation agreement has been signed between TU Wien (TUW) and the Azerbaijan Robotics and Automation Society (ARAS).

The MSc Engineering Management – Baku Track is exclusively targeted at students from Azerbaijan, Georgian, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Russian. The tuition fee for participants from the aforementioned countries will be subsidized by scholarships. With this cooperation, TU Wien makes an important contribution to the further education of managers in the Caspian region.

Admission

Admitted are persons holding an academic degree (e.g. BSc, MSc, Dipl.Ing.,… or equivalent) in a relevant area. Persons holding an equivalent educational and professional qualifications may also be admitted.

The selection process is highly competitive. Its goal is to register high-quality participants based on a variety of criteria that measure the candidates demonstrated abilities as students, managers and
leaders e.g. past academic experience, general intellectual ability, ability to assume responsibility and achieve measurable results, personal statement of goals, challenges, experience, and interpersonal communication skills.
