Vinzenz Sedlak is Visiting Associate Professor at the  Faculty of the Built Environment (FBE),  University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia and Visiting Professor at the “Institut für Tragwerkslehre und Ingenieurkonstruktionen des Holz- und Stahlbaues”, TU Wien.

Vinzenz Sedlak does research supported by public, industrial and university-based funds as well as research cooperation with teams in Austria (TU Wien and University Innsbruck) Germany (IL University Stuttgart, TU Berlin), Switzerland (Ibois, EPFLausanne) and USA (Getty Foundation).
His research focuses on conceptual structural design, structure and construction in architecture (shape, structure and application), lightweight structures with membranes, steel and timber, protective roofing for archaeological sites, development of computer-based design aid and information systems.
Current research into and development of computer-aided teaching and learning systems (SDA - Structural Design Aid - Database Systems), partially in cooperation with ITI/TUWien.

Lectures at Universities and Institutions in Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Peoples Republic of China, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, UK and USA. Convenor of several scientific seminars, workshops and conferences as well as the First  International Conference LSA'86 "Lightweight Structures in Architecture" in Sydney and Initiator of the International Congress LSA'98 (IASS/ IEAust/ LSAA) "Lightweight Structures in Architecture, Engineering and Construction", Sydney.
