Olha Danylo is Research Scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Laxenburg, Austria, since 2015. As a member of the Earth Observation and Citizen Science research group, Olha has contributed to numerous research projects applying geo-spatial analysis to global environmental problems. Topics range from tropical forest mapping and post-disaster damage assessment  to global land cover validation. Olha’s current scientific interests include the usage of GIS and machine learning tools to analyze spatial and remote sensing data, aiming to improve land cover mapping and contribute to urban climatology science. She is a visiting scientist at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission (Ispra, Italy), Vienna University of Economics and Business (Vienna, Austria) and Systems Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw, Poland). Olha Danylo graduated from the department of Applied Mathematics at Lviv Polytechnic National University (Lviv, Ukraine) and later she received her PhD in mathematical modelling from the same university.
