Professor Malgosia Fitzmaurice holds a chair of public international law at Queen Mary University of London. She specialises in international environmental law, law of treaties, law of international watercourses and indigenous peoples. She published extensively on these subjects.

She delivered the Hague Academy lectures on the International Protection of the Environment in 2001. She participated in many international conferences. She is a coordinator of LLM courses on the Law of Treaties and International Environmental Law for the University of London. She formerly was a Secretary and member of the International Law Association, Water Resources Committee and a member of the British Branch of the International Law Association. She spent 4 months at the Washington and Lee University, School of Law in 2004, as a scholar-in-residence, where she taught a course on international environmental law. She taught international environmental law and the law of treaties in Notre Dame University School of Law in 2005.
