Dr.-Ing.h.c. Andreas Tostmann


Dr.Ing.h.c. Andreas Tostmann studied Mechanical Engineering and Economic Sciences at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany.

In 1990 he joined the Volkswagen Group and held various senior positions.  In 1994 he worked for Volkswagen de Mexico in Puebla, Mexico, as the manager in the product planning powertrain. Following, he worked in the Volkswagen R+D in Germany on power train projects from where he moved to the Volkswagen Salzgitter plant, Germany as plant manager. He headed up Volkswagen of South Africa from 2004-2007 as managing director and was  the chairman of the board of Directors of Volkswagen Slovakia till 2011. He is also the Vice-President of the German-Slovak Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Now he is currently the Executive Vice President Production, SEAT, S.A..

He developed the Student Orientation Program for Automotive Engineering at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa in which he is still involved. From the NMMU he was awarded an honorary degree for his contribution towards higher education in 2007.
