Dr. M.Sc. Louis Gunnigan

Dr Louis Gunnigan is Team Leader for Engineering at the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland. He holds lectures in Construction Management at the DIT and is research supervisor to Masters degree and PhD students as well as external examiner to PhD for the University of Limerick. Louis Gunnigan also has taught Master of Science programmes at the Nottingham Trent University. His research pro-jects include COST action TUD 1001 which covers PPP in transport and TEP PPP which deals with the transfer of knowledge on PPP, both projects are funded through the EU7th Framework programme. In cooperation with the UNECE team of specialists in PPP Louis Gunnigan has developed training modules for the capacity building of PPP in emerging economies.

Louis Gunnigan was Head of the School of Construction at the Dublin Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2011 and Head of the Department of Construction Management at the DIT from 2002 to 2009. Before that he was Head of Human Resources with John Sisk & Son Ltd.

He is the author of numerous publications e.g. on tendering of PPP projects, barriers to innovation in PPP, increasing the effectiveness of PPP, trends in construction project management, PFI, sustaina-bility and renewable energy.
From 2011 to 2013 Louis Gunnigan was president of ICPMA, the International Construction Project Management Association and he is a fellow of CIOB, the Chartered Institute of Building.

He is member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Construction Management and reviewer for academic journals such as Journal of Civil Engineering & Management, Journal of Con-struction Innovation and the Journal of Construction Management & Economics.
