Christian Redl is a researcher at Energy Economics Group (EEG) at Vienna University of Technology. He joined the EEG in September 2005 as a PhD Candidate. He holds a master degree in industrial engineering.

His major fields of research include liberalisation of the energy sector, wholesale market analyses of the European electricity market and analyses of price formation on spot and futures markets. He also investigates the cost and environmental effects of the European Emission Trading Scheme as well as the impact of this scheme on competition in electricity markets.

Finally, he works on economic analyses and scenarios of the long-term evolution of the Austrian electricity supply system in order to provide energy services optimally from society’s point of view.
