Alumni of MSc “Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe” (class 2005-2007) get together 2012

Ride with the Carnuntumdraisine

From Friday, September 28th until Sunday, September 30th a group of alumni from the very first MSc class (2005-2007) got together with their families for a weekend full of memories, discussions and activities. On Friday evening former MSc students Alexander Maier, Paul Vospernik, Harald Stütz, Günter Wittek, Andreas Mixa and Johann Leichtfried gathered with their families for dinner at Vienna’s Wieden Bräu.

During the next day they visited the Technical Museum in Vienna where they witnessed the well-known high voltage experiment with Faraday’s cage. After lunch the group drove to the small wine town of Rust next to Neusiedler Lake for wine tasting at the Feiler-Artinger winery. The evening was spent at a rustic Heurigen in Rust.

On Sunday the group got up early to drive to Bruck/Leitha for a rail-bike ride along an abandoned rail-road line running from Bruck/Leitha to Petronell-Carnuntum. This ride with the “Carnuntumdraisine” was much enjoyed by adults and children alike. It led the group to the archeological site of Carnuntum. There they went on a tour through the Roman ruins. A festive lunch was followed by an easy downhill rail-bike ride back to Bruck/Leitha. From there everyone said goodbye before heading back home.

The participants of this alumni event concluded that they wish to get together again, at least once a year, in order to turn their meetings into a tradition. This year’s alumni meeting was organized and accompanied by alumnus Alexander Maier, with the help of Martin Schestag from TU Continuing Education Center and Ralf Roggenbauer from Energiepark Bruck/Leitha who also operates the “Carnuntumdraisine” (www.carnuntumdraisine.at).
