Pioneer role
With the start of the winter semester 2012 the students of three postgraduate master programs received an Apple iPad at the Continuing Education Center (CEC). The Vienna University of Technology is the first university in Europe in the postgraduate sector that provides a tablet from Apple for the students. "In addition to the forward-looking content of our master programs we offer our students now also an innovative level of service. With the Apple iPad we have found a perfect device in design and functionality for our needs”, so Petra Aigner, Director of the CEC.

Digital Studies
The entire study material is provided to the participants on the digital learning platform "CECnet", which can be downloaded as well as is available online worldwide. Digital additions in scripts or transcripts can also be done with the iPad. A completely paperless study is guaranteed. "The easy accessibility to information motivates - as the first experiences have shown - the students immensely to deal with the content. Just do it! "Prof. Bob Martens, Dean of the CEC. Especially for the international students at the Continuing Education Center the new iPad is a benefit, because it allows a permanent carrying of only 600 gram tablets and a round the clock access to the study material.

It is already a big success
The project of the paperless studying has already found considerable favor within the students of the master programs.
Due this success over to the academic year 2012/13 more courses will be equipped with tablet PCs.
