Country Module in Turkey for the second time

MSc Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe

After a successful start 2014 the „Turkey“ country module within the scope of the MSc program „Renewable Energy in CEE“ was held for the second time from June 18-21, 2015 in Izmir.
As with all country modules so far, strengths and potentials of REN production, past and future development scenarios, a judicial overview, legal and economic frameworks, and a market overview of the respective country was presented. The module took four days, including a two day bus excursion in between lectures.
The lectures started at the Ege (Aegean) University in Izmir on June 18, 2015 by official invitation of Prof. Dr. Hayati Olgun from the renewable energy department. He was followed by Yunus Isik, from Enercon Turkey. After his lecture the group visited a wind tower manufacturing plant just outside of Izmir.

The second day took us to the Izmir geothermal plant, the “Urla” winery with its 100 kWp photovoltaic system for solar cooling and wind farms near Cesme. The third day was split in two as we had another excellent morning lecture on emission trading and carbon markets in Turkey by Turkish Ministry of the Environment representative Evren Türkmenoglu. In the afternoon another bus excursion followed to see a hydroelectric power plant which was part of a greater flood protection and irrigation scheme. Finally the fourth day was spent partly to see another photovoltaic system and to visit the Ephesus archeological site as part of a voluntary cultural program of this seminar.

For the third time the country module in Turkey will be held from April 6th-9th in 2017. For alumni it is possible to attend new country modules at a special alumni rate. If you are interested to join, please inquire via newenerg(at)tuwien.ac.at.
