“Russia & CIS” Scholarship awarded

MSc Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe

This MSc program “Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe” is the first cross-border postgraduate program in Europe dealing with all future issues of alternative energy production and is offered by Technische Universität Wien in cooperation with Energiepark Bruck/Leitha. A partial scholarship has been announced to facilitate the access to the MSc program and to enable a better academic qualification in the field of “Renewable Energies” especially for participants from Russia and CIS countries.

The jury – consisting of the Academic Director, Reinhard Haas, and representatives of the two cooperation partners, Karin Mottl (Energiepark Bruck/Leitha) and Andrea Würz (TU Wien) – awarded the scholarship in the amount of EUR 5,000 to Yuriy Degtyarov.

Yuriy Degtyarov did his Master of International Law at the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University and his Master of Business Administration at the Kyiv National Vadym Hetman Economic University. The Ukrainian (aged 33) works at the law department of a distribution network provider. Pending dramatic changes of electroenergetics his company started new projects of modernization of small hydropower stations and construction of solar plants. He is actively participating in these projects as project manager and counsellor in law.
His career aim: “Being professional in renewable energy my voice could be heard and spread though civil society organizations in the battle with state authorities for clear future. Hope the program could help me obtain experience of neighbouring countries in reforms of electricity market and development of renewable business.”
