Alumni 02-08

Get-together with ETIA09 students, Alumni and representatives

In the evening of October 10, 2016, the participants of ETIA10 got in touch with their fellow students of the ninth class (starting their second academic year at TU Wien) and many alumni of this MSc-program on the occasion of the Welcome Reception. The so called “Kontaktraum” at TU Wien with a great view over the central district Vienna served as a venue. As usual, representatives of the Diplomatic Academy and TU Wien participated in this reception and acknowledged the informal atmosphere.

For the first time, Prof. Kurt Matyas, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at TU Wien welcomed the students, alumni and representatives. He explained that the MSc ETIA title is granted by TU Wien in collaboration with the Diplomatic Academy – both renowned postgraduate academic institutions. He pointed further more out that at TU Wien any application for PhD-studies is individually reviewed. However, there exists no legal claim to be admitted to a PhD study track.

Ambassador Dr. Hans Winkler, Director of the Diplomatic Academy Vienna, addressed a special welcome to the MSc ETIA Alumni as „best testimony to the fact that this program is successful and very useful in practical terms as well as for finding interesting jobs“.

In his presentation, Prof. Bob Martens, Vice Director of the CEC at TU Wien highlighted the successful completion of PhD studies by a number of MSc ETIA Graduates in Austria and abroad, whereas the Academic Director (DA) Prof. Gerhard Loibl thanked for the attractive location and wished all new students a good start and good luck.

Finally, Prof. Christoph Scharff, CEO of ARA AG congratulated all students on having chosen this challenging program in order to become experts with cross-cutting expertise. He presented the ARA Best Study Award which will be granted to three students with the best academic performance on the occasion of the graduation for the ninth time already.

The following get-together at the buffet deepened the contact between the student-body of the two classes and the representatives of DA Vienna, TU Wien and ARA AG.
