"Digitalization opens new doors in Facility Management"

How can technological innovations help save costs in Facility Management? Everybody talks about digitalization, but what does it actually mean and what does it have to do with energy efficiency? Prof. Alexander Redlein, academic director of our Professional MBA Facility Management, spoke about it to the Viennese newspaper “Die Presse”. Mr. Redlein also says that MBA participants not only learn how to operate these technologies, but are also taught to question the processes involved and to think critically.

One thing becomes clear after reading the article: the content of Facility Management courses everywhere has changed. Gone are the days when a Facility Manager was considered a “janitor with a suit and tie”. Real estate and technical aspects are still very important, but managerial skills have become more relevant.

At the Professional MBA Facility Management program of the TU Wien, this trend has been taken into account. The program has modules focused on Economics and Human Resource Management, handling topics such as Digitalization, BIM, IoT, New Ways of Working, Risk Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Workplace Management, Legal Compliance, among others.
