Successful start of the MSc “Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe”

Welcome Reception with international students

The postgraduate MSc program “Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe” started on October 17, 2008 already for the fourth time. Prof. Dr. Reinhard Haas (Academic Director, Vienna University of Technology) and DI Martina Prechtl (Vice Chairman of Energiepark Bruck/Leitha) led through the evening and welcomed numerous well known personalities from the field of science, economy and research, as well as representatives of the major sponsors of the program, e.g. MR Dr. Gerhard Burian (Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour), and Mag. Gottfried Heneis (Raiffeisen Leasing GmbH).

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schimak (Vienna University of Technology), significantly engaged in the program development, spoke about the history of this unique MSc program. During the ceremonial act Prof. Dr. Miklos Nemenyi (Vice Rector of the Westhungarian University in Mosonmagyaróvár) conferred a honorary certificate of the Westhungarian University on Prof. Haas. Afterward Dr. Dörte Fouquet, Director of the European Renewable Energy Federation in Brussels held her keynote speech about “Banking, Financing and Governing Crisis – Climate and Renewables”.

Finally all 28 postgraduate students were presented individually to the audience. They are coming from Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, and Ukraine – which points out the internationality of this program.
