The Master of Science Economics is a joint program of the Vienna University of Technology and the Institute for Advanced Studies

The joint MSc is a rigorous, quantitative education and equips graduates with the advanced tools to undertake a research career in economics. The Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), Vienna Austria's premier postgraduate research and training institute has combined theoretical and empirical research in economics and other social science disciplines since its founding by Paul F. Lazarsfeld and Oskar Morgenstern in 1963. Through the interaction between scientific theory and practice, IHS provides innovative value-added services to policy makers and business practitioners. Key features are interdisciplinary exchange, a truly international faculty, a commitment to quality and original scholarly output.

The Vienna University of Technology is the largest Austrian institution in research and education within the areas of technology and natural sciences. For almost 20 years the Vienna University of Technology has been successfully offering outstanding Postgraduate Programs. This success is also based on the top scientific and economic qualifications of its faculty. By establishing a network between the individual faculties the existing unique know-how of the Vienna University of Technology is bundled in order to benefit from synergy effects and to promote innovation. The Continuing Education Center offers a widespread range of products customized to the needs of graduates with technical or scientific backgrounds as well as the requirements of companies. This includes full-time and part-time programs. In addition the cooperation with selected external partners and universities abroad ensures permanent expansion and internationalization of our range of offers.

The program MSc Economics requires the full-time commitment of students for the entire two years. Graduates are equipped to succeed in an ever more competitive academic environment and typically continue their graduate education at top PhD programs or take on jobs in important think tanks, policy making institutions, or the financial sector.
