FIBAA Seal of Quality awarded to the Professional MBA Automotive Industry

“The accreditation of the Professional MBA Automotive Industry by the FIBAA is a great achievement. In particular, it awards the program's cross-border cooperation with the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, as well as its close cooperation with Automotive Cluster Vienna Region (ACVR). These aspects allow the MBA program, which is unique in Europe, to guarantee a high quality of education on an international scale, and this is further testimony to the fact that our MBA programs meet the highest demands on the market”, says Mag. Petra Aigner, Managing Director of the Continuing Education Center of the Vienna University of Technology.

The importance of quality assurance and accreditation in postgraduate education has increased significantly in recent years, due to the enormous growth that has characterized continuing education as a whole. Given the ever-increasing range of studies on offer, recognized quality marks and seals of approval are major criteria for potential candidates in making an informed choice of a continuing education course that is of high quality and also meets their aspirations.

“The accreditation by the FIBAA is the icing on the cake for a new and highly successful MBA program of the Vienna University of Technology. The FIBAA has confirmed that our approach of offering an education that has strong non-academic vocational links is the way forward. So, for instance, for each module, industry experts also give presentations, modules take place on automotive production sites, and top managers hold question and answer sessions in the form of fireside chats. The combination of top professors and experienced industry experts is the secret behind the success of what is the world's first MBA in automotive management”, is how Univ.Prof. Dipl.WirtschIng. Dr.-Ing. Wilfried Sihn, Academic Director, Vienna University of Technology, sees it.

In the assessment by the FIBAA external examiners, particular attention was drawn to the program's positioning in the educational market, its high level of internationality, the cross-border cooperation, and its close collaboration with the automotive and component supply industry in the CENTROPE Region, as well as the objectives of the MBA program itself.

The FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation, www.fibaa.de ) is one of the foremost quality assurance institutions in Europe, with internationally recognized quality standards, and accredits programs of study provided by state and private universities throughout Europe. The aim of the FIBAA is to ensure the academic programs in question are of high quality. The FIBAA seal of quality is awarded to educational programs that are particularly worthy of being singled out due to their quality and sustainable nature.

The Professional MBA Automotive Industry is offered by the Vienna University of Technology and the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava on the initiative of ACVR (Automotive Cluster Vienna Region). On March 12, 2010 the postgraduate program, which is presented in modules, takes 4 semesters and is taught in English, will start for the second time.
