On June, 24th 2010 the graduation of the postgraduate program „Environmental Technology & International Affairs“ (ETIA) took place at the Festsaal of the Diplomatic Academy Vienna. „We are very proud of this cooperation. The great success of this study program derives from the unique cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy and the Vienna University of Technology,“ stated Ambassador Hans Winkler, Director of DA Vienna.

„This Master of Science Program offers a well-founded training in two very different fields and therefore meets the demands of an increasing need for graduates on the international job market“, Vice-Rector Sabine Seidler from the Vienna University of Technology pointed out.

For the first time the „ARA Best Study Award“ was granted. ARA Altstoff Recycling Austria AG is Austria´s leading compliance scheme under the EU Packaging Directive. „Environment protection and ressource management are cross sectoral topics. ETIA is an excellent program to combine the needed professional profundness and an qualified overview“, emphasized Dr. Christoph Scharff, CEO of ARA. Because of nearly identic perfomance, the ARA Best Study Award was granted to two graduates: Ms. Siwei Tan from Singapur and Mr. Oliver Ortis (Austria). This award is planned to be granted not only this year, but – as a sign of sustainability – also in the following two years.

13 alumnis finished their ETIA studies this year. For the next class starting in September many international candidates have been admitted, e.g. from Brazil, Australia, Roumania, Slowakia and the Phillipines.
The Diplomatic Academy Vienna and the Continuing Education Center of TU Vienna congratulate the award winners and the alumnis.
