MSc Economics: Highly sophisticated postgraduate program starts for the 3rd time

The Master of Science Economics is a joint program of the Vienna University of Technology and the Institute for Advanced Studies was opened on September 13th, 2010, by Prof. Dr. Hans Kaiser (Vice Rector for International Affairs, Vienna University of Technology) and Prof. Dr. Berhard Felderer (Head of the Institute for Advanced Studies). Both of them welcomed the students cordially and emphasized the importance of post-graduate education.

Afterwards the main contents of the program were outlined by Prof. Dr. Manfred Deistler (Academic Director, Vienna University of Technology): “There is clear demand both in Austria and abroad for economists trained in the latest theroretical approaches and methods. Satisfying this need is the goal of the MSc. The MSc will compete with top international programs and focus on micro-, macroeconomics and econometrics.”

One of the highlights of the welcome reception was the Austrian Lottery Scholarship in the amount of EUR 5.700,-- each, which was awarded to Lisa Windsteiger and Stefan Schneeberger, students of the class 2009-2011.Finally all students, who come from Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine and Austria, were presented individually to the audience.

The team of CEC/TU Vienna and IHS/Economics wishes all their students good luck for the upcoming four semesters.
