On October 1, 2010 the Graduation Ceremony of the third class of the Professional MBA Entrepreneurship & Innovation and three other PMBA specializations took place at the Palais Liechtenstein.

In his welcome address Prof. Bodo B. Schlegelmilch, Ph.D., D.Litt., Dean of the WU Executive Academy, said that this was not only a special event to be celebrated but also an occasion for reflection. He pointed out that the graduates of the PMBA Entrepreneurship & Innovation had earned degrees from two reputable universities – TU Wien and WU Wien – that are among the best in their respective fields in Europe. Prof. Schlegelmilch ended by saying that the graduation was not just the completion of an MBA Program but also a starting point for lifelong learning and a continuing relationship between the graduates and the universities.

The keynote speech was delivered by Mag. Jochen Borenich, MBA, member of the Executive Board of Kapsch BusinessCom AG. He told the audience that attending an MBA program had changed his life significantly. According to him it means a huge investment but it absolutely pays off in terms of the acquired tool set and network.

In the main part of the graduation ceremony Prof. Schlegelmilch introduced the Academic Vow. Then the Master of Ceremonies asked each candidate to step towards the scepter, to put the fingers of vow on it and to take the vow by saying “spondeo”. He thanked all the families, friends and companies for their understanding and continuous support during the MBA program. Mag. Kröger finished by emphasizing that an MBA is much, much more than just three letters.

In his closing remarks on behalf of the Academic Directors Univ.Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke also underlined the big achievements of the alumni which they can be very proud of. He compared attending an MBA program to conquering a mountain: For both endeavors one needs strong skills, considerable professional experience, a strong will and a strong team.
