Info Session on January 21, 2011 - Professional MBA Automotive Industry

MBA Program unique in Europe starts for the third time! Ready to speed up your career?

International students, excursions to well-known automotive and component supply companies, business evenings with opinion leaders from the industry, transnational cooperation between two renowned universities in the heart of Europe – these are some of the typical characteristics of the EU-funded Professional MBA Automotive Industry.

With the Professional MBA Automotive Industry, the Vienna University of Technology and the STU Bratislava, in cooperation with the Automotive Cluster Vienna Region, have reacted to the needs of the automotive and its component supply industry in the CENTROPE region around Vienna and Bratislava. In 2008 approximately 5% of total global car production came from here (the equivalent of almost 4 million cars).
In the words of Academic Director, Univ.Prof. Dr. Wilfried Sihn (Vienna University of Technology): “The aim of the Professional MBA Automotive Industry is to train automotive managers to cope with the present and future demands of a global industry. Knowledge of automotive technology, as well as business subjects with a special focus on production and logistics, are key success factors in the Central European (CENTROPE) Region of Vienna/Bratislava”.

On March 11, 2011 the MBA-Program, which is unique in Europe, will start for the third time; and there are already inquiries from all over the world. The first class and second are characterized by its international mix – 35 participants from 11 countries. Although the students have attended interesting lectures in Vienna and Bratislava, got to know each other better in an outdoor module at the beginning of the program, were invited to business evenings with Dr.Ing.hc Andreas Tostmann (CEO Volkswagen Slovakia) on the subject of “Trends and Challenges in the Automotive Industry“ as well as with Dr. Thomas Meichsner (Automotive Restructuring and Value Management & former Executive Director Production Technology, Wilhelm Karmann GmbH) and visited PSA Peugeot Citroen in Trnava, Sluzba VD in Nitra (a tier 2 supplier), ArvinMeritor, KIA Slovakia in Slovakia, Continental Automotive Systems in Czech Republic as well as BMW Steyr Plant, MIBA Sintergroup, BOSCH, and KISKA in Austria in order to see how the knowledge they have already acquired is put into practice. Also lectures took place directly in the production sites, for example, VW Slovakia and KIA Slovakia to know and to feel the atmosphere of the company.

The part-time MBA program is presented in modules and takes 4 semesters. The lectures will be held in English. The final degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) Automotive Industry is awarded by the Vienna University of Technology & the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
