All that Matters

First continuing education seminar for high school teachers at TU Wien

On November 18, 2010 the Continuing Education Center of TU Wien for the first time organized the seminar „All that Matters“ for high school teachers. VR o.Univ.Prof. Dr. Sabine Seidler welcomed 14 teachers from the fields of engineering or natural sciences to this further education seminar.


At the beginning the Course Director o.Univ.Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Degischer of the Institute of Materials Science and Technology presented the Master Course Materials Science. Then o.Univ.Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schubert of the Institute of Materials Chemistry, ao.Univ.Prof. Dr. Vasiliki-Maria Archodoulaki of the Institute of Materials Science and Technology and Ass.Prof. Dr. Johannes Bernardi of USTEM gave interesting lectures about their respective research focus.

After the lunch break the theoretical part was completed with visits to some laboratories. Ao.Univ.Prof. Dr. Roland Haubner of the Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics provided the participants with some insights to the fields of powder metallurgy and chemical analytics. At USTEM Ass.Prof. Dr. Johannes Bernardi showed the participants highly sophisticated equipment like a transmissions electron microscope. Ao.Univ.Prof. Dr. Jürgen Stampfl of the Institute of Materials Science and Technology presented e.g. additive manufacturing technologies. Finally Dipl.-Ing. Richard Dorner presented the range of services of TVFA GmbH.

The eventful day ended with the conferment of the certificates of participation by VR o.Univ.Prof. Dr. Sabine Seidler. Due to the big success the Continuing Education Center of TU Wien plans to offer the seminar also next year. For more information please contact MMag.
