At the beginning of June the students of the MSc program “Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe” (class 2010-2012S) had one of their last modules in Bruck/Leitha. After four long and stressful lecture days most of the students wanted to attend the ground-breaking ceremony of the new bioalgae breeding plant. To mix business with pleasure the students tried out the new rental e-bikes on their way from the seminar room to the plant.

At the ground-breaking ceremony a small design model was presented. In real life bioalgae will proliferate in 22 tubular elements, each six meter high, and produce chemical energy out of sunlight. Details you´ll find here: www.ecoduna.com.

Then the students cycled to a construction site of new wind turbines near Bruck. The nacelle already was installed, but the rotor blades were still down. So the students could hear their echoes when shouting into the open end of one of the blades.

At dusk the students switched to a „Heurigen“ nearby, also by e-bikes. Final conclusion: All students were very excited about e-bikes.
