Business Evening - "Challenges in the automotive industry" with Jaroslav Holecek

On December 1, 2011 the Slovak Technical University (STU) in Bratislava organized a business evening for the students of the “Professional MBA Automotive Industry”

Mr. Jaroslav Holeček, former Member of the Board of Directors of Volkswagen Slovakia, spoke about the challenges in the automotive industry. Especially he focused on the multicultural aspects of the automotive industries. Based on his experience as HR Manager in different countries, for examples in Slovakia, Portugal, and Russia the cultural adjustment of the company in each country plays a significant role to be successful. Therefore it is a big challenge and task of managers to understand the cultural difference and to lead co-workers to have the high effectiveness and satisfaction at the work and to produce high quality products.

In the discussion with participants he spoke about the actual situation of the Russian automotive industry and his personal experience for the successful management of the human resources in different countries. Being ready to meet the global challenge in the automotive industry he emphasized the importance and necessity of the continuing education as well as improvement of the managers.  At the end he congratulated our students for their decision to keep themselves ready for future challenges by participating this unique MBA program for the automotive industry.

The person of Mr. Jaroslav Holeček
Jaroslav Holeček is the graduate from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. His career has developed in the automotive production and human resource management. He started working for Automotive Enterprise in Trnava (TAZ). Since 1983 he was the director of secondary vocational school of TAZ. In February 1992 he joined Volkswagen Slovakia in Bratislava. In 1994 he was appointed as the Head of the Human Resources. In January 1999 he became the Member of the Board of Directors of VW Slovakia. He moved to the Management Board of the AUTOEUROPA Setúbal plant in Portugal in 2001, taking responsibility for HR there. In 2005 he returned to Volkswagen Slovakia as the Board Member and HR director. He has been managing director for HR and also the Member of the Board of Directors in Kaluga since September 2008. Since January 2011 he has assumed new responsibilities within the VW Group.
