Güssing hosts students

MSc in Renewable Energy in Central and Eastern Europe – class 2011-2013

From the 27th of February to the 03rd of March 2012 the students of class 2011-2013 were hosted in the technology center in Güssing, Burgenland. The week’s lectures dealt with the use of liquid biomass. The different lecturers focused on Biodiesel and Biogas and the different conversion technologies available to produce those two.

Besides interesting lectures the students could experience a technical tour of Güssing’s energy transformation technologies accompanied by Ing. Reinhard Koch, Managing Director of the European Center of Renewable Energy Güssing. Of special interest was the wood refinery presented to the students by the mastermind behind this technology, Professor Hermann Hofbauer from the University of Technology in Vienna. The group photo shows everyone standing in front of the gasification plant of this very interesting 3rd generation biomass technology .

Social activities included a very nice dinner out in a fine restaurant inside Güssing’s fortress overlooking the town. The group was later joined by Dr. Richard Zweiler, one of the lecturers of the week and CEO of Güssing Energy Technologies.

All things considered, it was a worthwhile visit to Güssing.
