One more CEC programme accredited

MSc ETIA received the QUESTE-SI Award for it´s sustainability

On January 28, 2013 the Awarding Ceremony took place the Kuppelsaal of TU Vienna. The Continuing Education Center of TU Vienna received an official accreditation for the MSc Program Environmental Technology and International Affairs. This accrediation was granted in the frame of the EU project QUESTE-SI (Quality System of Science-  and Technology-Universities for Sustainable Industry, www.plone.queste.eu). QUESTE-SI was funded under the Lifelong Learning Programme (ERASMUS) of the EU. The project is managed by a consortium composed of 18 partners from all over Europe.

The overall objective of the project is to support quality improvement and to promote sustainability in the field of technical and engineering education. Sustainability is here defined as the integration of dimensions (economic, social, environmental) beyond technical dimensions in the engineering education. The aim is to upgrade the quality standards and to develop sustainability in the field of natural-science education.

The QUESTE-SI label has been awarded to 15 institutions after a process consisting of a self-assessment, an optional phase of guided self-development and an audit visit by a team of specially trained experts which took place at the CEC in October 2012. At this peer review the audit team interviewed some Faculty members as well as students and alumni of the MSc program to get to know the program from different points of view.

For Mag. Petra Aigner, Managing Director of the CEC it is great pleasure „to be the first Austrian university receiving this international quality award. It shows that continuing education of TU Vienna fulfills internationally recognized quality standards in the context of sustainability.“
