Describe your current position and what led you to your job.
Current position: Head of IT Infrastructure & processes @ Raiffeisen Bank International
Career stations so far:
- IT System development @ Siemens
- IT Application development @ Sparkassen IT
- IT Presales/Consulting @ Informix
- IT Professional Service Manager @ IBM
- IT Professional Service Manager @ IBM

What made you chose the MSc Program Engineering Management?
1) The composition of lessons, combining Technology, Economy and Management
2) The international setup

Why did you decide to participate in this program?

It seemed for me the best fit to my former education and experience.

Can you describe the program in three sentences?

This program changes an engineer to a manager.
It enables you to manage engineers or to apply engineering discipline to management.
With its international partner university (Oakland in these days), it opened a complete new and exciting learning experience.

What did you expect from the program? Have your expectations been met?
My expectation were over-exceeded by far.

How did the master program influence your professional life?

I could use the knowledge I gained in the EM program in all phases of my professional carreer. It helped me in many difficult situations during my different positions. This program provides me armamentarium until today, even its now 12 years back!

Can you apply your knowledge on an international level?

Yes!

Did the program enhance your international career or did it open the door to an international career?
Especially in an international environment, US Companies most, the Masters Degree counts a lot. It opens doors.

What is the best career advice you have received?

The most wanted attribute for a manager is: “Frustration tolerance”

What would you recommend to someone interested in working in your field?
Learn the basics, be able to contribute real value, don’t waste your life in PowerPoint!
Reliability, willing to work but also getting recognition for it!

What skills are necessary or what prepared you the most for your career?
Reliability, willing to work but also getting recognition for it!

What career plans do you have for the next 3-5 years?
Going international as expatriate
