Proper management of solid urban waste is necessary to avoid the spread of diseases and further pollution of the environment, and is one of the main challenges facing the world today. As the world population continues to rise with the largest share coming from developing countries with densely populated mega cities, it is crucial for these nations to adopt a feasible waste management strategy. The panel discussion hopes to address some of the challenges faced by developing nations in implementing management of solid waste in urban settings.

Speakers:
Prof. Dr. Paul Brunner (TU Vienna), Prof. Dr. Christoph Scharff (ARA AG), Dr. Heinz Leuenberger (UNIDO), Mr. Peter Benedet, MBA (Samsung Electronics Austria)
