Welcome to ETIA Talks II – Hydropower(ed) Future

An initiative of the students of the MSc Program “Environmental Technology and International Affairs/ETIA” at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and the Vienna University of Technology provides a platform for discussion and learning: ETIA Talks

The second ETIA talks on “Hydropower(ed) Future: A sustainable way to go?” will take place on 30th March 2014 at 6:30 p.m., Festsaal Diplomatische Akademie. For the detailed program please click HERE.

This panel session will address the role of sustainability in the future of hydropower on the basis of the latest tool on the market: The Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol 2010 (HSAP). The HSAP aims at providing all stakeholders with guidelines in the implementation of the power plant on the basis of a sustainable energy production. However, even with such a comprehensive tool in place, the question remains whether the future of hydropower lies within its sustainability or if there is a different way to go from here.

The talk will be moderated by:
Ass.Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Eduard Doujak, Institute for Energy Systems and Thermodynamics of the University of Technology Vienna
Dipl. -Ing. Ulrich Eichelmann (CEO & Second Chairman, River Watch)
Bernhard Möstl, MBA-HSG (Head of Asset Governance Hydro Global Unit Generation, E.ON Kraftwerke GmbH)
Dipl.-Ing.Dr. Werner Schmied (Senior Director, Head of Department for Project and Environmental Analysis, OeKB)
