Two PRESSE scholarship holders for MSc Program Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe energize their future

In cooperation with the Austrian daily newspaper DIE PRESSE the Continuing Education Center/TU Wien and the Energiepark Bruck/Leitha awarded two partial scholarships for the MSc Program Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe, Class 2015-2017. Three shortlisted candidates followed the invitation to the hearing.

The jury consisted of Univ.Prof. Dr. Reinhard Haas (Academic Director, TU Wien), Andreas Tanzer (Die PRESSE), DI Karin Mottl, MSc (Managing Director Energiepark Bruck/Leitha) and DI Andrea Würz (Program Manager, CEC/TU Wien). It was very difficult for the jury to come to a decision. Finally, the partial scholarships in the amount of EUR 10,000 each were awarded to Angela Rocio Laverde Canon, MSc und Ulrich Tschiesche, MSc.

Angela Laverde is born in Colombia und living in Austria since 2007. She holds a Master degree in Electronics Engineering from the Escuela Colombiana de Ingenieria "Julio Garavito" in Bogota. After finishing her studies she gained working experience in India, France, China before switching to Austria. She is senior electronics professional with advanced skills in control and automation of industrial electronic systems. Her area of expertise includes software design, software development and electronics systems design. She will bring vast international and intercultural experience into the MSc group and convinced the jury with her determination and her exact picture of her future job in the field of renewable energy. With this MSc program she wants to make up new job perspectives.

Ulrich Tschiesche studied Environmental Engineering (Bachelor) at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna and joined the International double-degree Master program Environmental Science (University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala). After working for civil- and environmental consultancies in Austria for several years he currently works for Kummunalkredit Public Consulting GmbH, a public consultancy company which manages environmental support schemes on behalf of Austria`s Environment Ministry and other partners. He is responsible for the evaluation of water and wastewater projects as well as working on publications in that field. He convinced the jury with his experience in the field of environmental science and his high motivation to qualify himself in the field of renewable energy.

Both scholarship holders look forward to acquiring know-how focused on renewable energy and to exchanging ideas with other international participants. Congratulations to the scholarship holders!
