Business Evening: "Future Journey: Who is driving next?"


The automotive industry is a continuously growing global industry and is confronted with global challenges. In order to provide participants the future trends and challenges in the automotive industry the Continuing Education Center of TU Wien is organizing top class Business Evenings with the opinion leaders from the automotive Industry.

At the Business Evening "Future Journey: Who is driving next?" Dr.-Ing. h.c. Andreas Tostmann, Executive Vice President for Production, SEAT mentioned that the development of Information Technology and Internet has been changing lifestyles of customer and the business model of industries. For example, in the music industry the trend goes instead of owning the music in a CD or MP3 Player streaming from the internet. The automotive industry has been confronted also with the digitalization. In the automotive industry the connectivity and autonomous driving are two of current trends where the car and information technology are coming closer together. The trend is that more and more IT industries are entering traditional automotive business area. The car makers as traditional player and the IT companies as new player compete for the future of individual mobility. The automotive industry has to act fast in the right way to face the challenge.
