Know-how on Regional Energy Transition

On request of WIFI International a Moldovan delegation visited Energiepark Bruck/Leitha mid-October to acquire special know-how regarding possible ways to implement the regional energy transition.

Moldova has 3.6 million inhabitants and is located between Romania and the Ukraine. The energy supply of Moldova amounts to 863 kg TOE per capita (status 2013), compared to Austria where it is 3,918 kg TOE per capita. More than 90 % of the energy consumption are net energy imports, the share of non-fossil energy is 0.9 % of the energy consumption. The Moldovan colleagues asked after the overall situation in Austria and put pointed questions regarding the success factors of “Energieregion Römerland-Carnuntum” and how they can apply this information on the Moldovan situation. An interesting discussion focusing on photovoltaics arose, because some regions in Moldova are planned to be used for photovoltaics. In short: Two exciting hours with exchange of information around renewable energy! We thank WIFI International for coordinating this meeting and cross our fingers that the Moldovan colleagues will realize many renewable projects in their home country.
