Energiepark Bruck/Leitha is awarded with the VCÖ Mobility Award Lower Austria!

On September 11, 2017 the Verkehrsclub Österreich (VCÖ), the Province of Lower Austria and the ÖBB awarded the VCÖ-Preis Lower Austria to climate friendly mobility projects. 67 projects were submitted – the four most innovative and imaginative received the award. Deputy head of the provincial government Dr. Stephan Pernkopf and Landesrat Mag. Karl Wilfing presented the award ceremony.

The project Smart City Ebreichsdorf is one of the winners. This research project is supported by the Klima- und Energiefonds and was implemented under the leadership of TU Wien, together with the Municipality of Ebreichsdorf, the Energy and Environment Agency of Lower Austria and the Energiepark Bruck/Leitha, our partner in the MSc Program Renewable Energy Systems.

Part of the project was the relocation of the train station and the development of a dual track of the Pottendorf line until 2022. In the scope of the project the general public was invited to discuss possible development chances and the Smart City Model as well as further usage of the area. Stephan Pernkopf congratulated the winners: “Climate friendly mobility starts with intelligent regional planning as for instance in Ebreichreichsforf and extends to the further development of e-mobility, where we are pioneers in Austria. The VCÖ Mobility Award is awarded to smart projects which serve as good examples.”
