Hörbiger Ventilwerke GmbH & Co. KG belongs to the Hörbiger Group, the leading manufacturer of components of compressors. Since the invention of steel plate valve by Mr. Hanns Hörbiger in 1895, Hörbiger company specializes in the production of compressors. In 2016 the new location of Hörbiger Ventilwerke GmbH & Co. KG was opened in Seestadt Aspern.

The plant tour started with an introductory video of the company in the Hörbiger Forum. This plant produces key components for compressors and gas engines. During the tour, participants were able to see parts production, assembly, product inspection and logistics.

With the development of information and communication technology and increasing digitalization, manufacturing and production are becoming increasingly networked and agile. Industry 4.0 is on everyone's lips. For the realization and implementation of Industry 4.0 it becomes necessary to test necessary concepts and developed strategies in order to gain practical information and experiences. For this purpose, TU Wien established Pilotfabrik Industrie 4.0, which offers an environment for practical research and development.

During the tour, participants could explore research works on machine-to-machine communication, human-robot collaboration, ergonomics in the workplace, 3D printing, cyber-physical assembly and logics systems of the future, and more.

The program team would like to thank Hörbiger Ventilwerke GmbH & Co. KG and TU Wien Pilotfabrik Industrie 4.0 for their informative tours.
